2018/19 - CENTENARY YEAR – WILFRED HEATON

Latest News

We are now just a few days into the Centenary Year (2 December 1918 - 2018) and much has come to fruition following some lengthy planning by the Trust.

The first Centenary Concert was held at The Salvation Army Regent Hall London by the Fulham Band (John Ward) - to a packed hall. On the 2 December Ray Farr sponsored a Heaton concert in Oslo. The "main event" will be at the RNCM Festival of Brass 2019 in Manchester on 25, 26 and 27 January 2019 and will include full concerts by the ISB and Black Dyke Band as well as the performance of major works by Foden's and Cory Bands. Details of the full weekend concerts can be found on the RNCM website .

The Heaton Collection CD6 was released in September 2018 and has proved to be a huge success. Soon afterwards the 6CD Box Set was released with the recordings of all the known works - including his choral works - by this unique and gifted composer. Not surprisingly this "souvenir" collection is also in big demand. Both are available through World of Brass - as are single CD's 1-5.

The comprehensive Biography bu Paul Hindmarsh is making good progress but is unlikely to be published and made available until the early part of 2019. Once a released date is known this will be announced and orders can be taken for what will prove to be a most interesting and informative read.
